Kona Video Diary 1

It's not quite "aloha" yet, more "howdy". I've landed in San Fran and am currently utilising the potent combination of coffee, endorphins, Twitter and blogging to try to stay awake for another 4 hours by which time my body will think it's 6am and the actual time will be about 10pm. Enjoy the first of many videos leading up to and immediately following the race itself. Apologies for the God-awful gurning before you press play, I ain't exactly an oil painting but it certainly doesn't reflect me in a positive light!

Very envious of your being in that city. Hellish hills to be training on - or is that the point?

Looking forward to Hawaii shots.

Unfortunately mate, not staying in SF long. Will be in Kona by midnight UK time. We've got a nice little 5 day stop on the way backs but I can't imagine the focus for then will be training. More like drinking and eating - having said that the novelty of the off seasons usually goes after about 5 days and I'm chomping at the bit to get going again.

Is this the season end for you, then? One last slog to show the path back from injury, and then a full tune-up?

5 days in SF is a rare treat indeed. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for progress reports and results. Hope you nail it.
